By downloading, installing, or using this application, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Disagreement means you should not use the app.

🎉 Service Tiers

Free Users: Core birthday tracking with completely local device storage, no cloud involvement.

Piñata Pro Subscribers: Optional "Birthday Backup" feature via Google Firebase for cross-device card synchronization.

Key point: Both tiers can maintain local-only data. Cloud backup is optional even for Pro users. The tradeoff is that deleting the app or switching devices requires manual data re-import without backup. Personal, non-commercial use only.

🔒 User Data and Privacy

The app stores birthday cards locally on your device. Pro subscribers using "Birthday Backup" have cards encrypted in Google Firebase. "Raw contact and calendar data never leaves your device." Google Firebase only processes birthday cards under a data processing agreement—no raw contact or calendar information transfers to the cloud.

☁️ Data Processing (Piñata Pro Subscribers Only)

"Birthday Backup" is subscription-exclusive. When enabled, Google Firebase processes only birthday cards as the service provider. Raw contact and calendar data remain device-only. Cloud data can be deleted anytime in Settings without affecting local storage.

🚫 Prohibited Uses

Users cannot employ the application for unlawful purposes or in ways that damage, disable, overburden, or impair functionality.

Piñata participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and affiliated sites.

Terms modifications are possible anytime. Continuing to use the app after changes constitutes acceptance.

📇 Contact & Calendar Access

Users consent to the app accessing contacts and calendar for local birthday card creation. "Raw contact and calendar data never leaves your device." Only Pro subscribers backing up can sync cards to cloud.

Calendar Integration: Optional feature identifying birthdays from existing calendar events.

Enabling calendar access means you:

  • Grant Piñata permission to read device calendar events
  • Accept that access targets birthday identification only
  • Understand Piñata processes event titles, dates, and participants for birthday extraction
  • Can revoke permissions anytime via device settings
  • Recognize calendar sync is entirely optional

Scope of Calendar Access:

  • Reading calendar events for birthday identification only
  • No modification of existing calendar events
  • No creation of new calendar events
  • No access to accounts without explicit permission

User Responsibilities:

  • Verify your right to grant calendar access on shared devices
  • Understand permission disabling may affect sync
  • Review and manage imported birthday data

📅 Calendar Data Handling

Processing:

Calendar events are processed locally to identify birthdays. Only relevant birthday information (names and dates) creates cards within Piñata. "Raw calendar data never leaves your device."

Cloud Backup:

Only created birthday cards (not raw calendar data) back up to cloud storage for Pro subscribers with "Birthday Backup" enabled. Original calendar events never undergo remote access or Piñata storage.

Deletion:

Calendar-imported birthday cards can be deleted through the app without affecting original calendar events.

Third-Party Integration:

Calendar sync works with device-native calendar applications and configured services (Google Calendar, iCloud, etc.). These services never receive Piñata data.

Limitations:

Piñata cannot guarantee accuracy of extracted birthday information. Users should verify imported data.
