The app collects names, birthday information (month, day, year), phone numbers for messaging, profile images/avatars, account details via Google/Apple sign-in, and optionally calendar events for birthday identification purposes. As stated: "Only birthday-related data such as names and dates is processed and stored."

📊 Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how people use Piñata and improve the app. This collects basic usage information like:

  • When you open the app and which screens you visit
  • Device type (iPhone or Android) and app version
  • If the app crashes or has errors
  • General actions like adding a birthday or making a purchase (we don't see the actual birthday details)

This is anonymous data that helps us fix bugs and make the app better. We don't collect your name, email, or any personal information through analytics.

🔐 Birthday Backup is Completely Optional

Users can operate entirely in Local Mode without creating an account. The policy clarifies: "You do NOT need to create an account to use Piñata." Birthday Backup represents an opt-in Pro feature. Local-only operation keeps everything device-resident, while cloud backup enables cross-device synchronization for Pro subscribers.

💾 Local & Cloud Data Storage

Birthday information resides locally by default. Pro subscribers choosing cloud backup store data in Firebase. Notably: "Raw calendar data and contact information never sync to the cloud." Only processed birthday cards created by users can backup to cloud when Pro users enable this feature.

🔔 Notifications

Birthday reminders generate locally on devices without server transmission, keeping notification handling entirely on-device.

☁️ Cloud Services (When You Choose Birthday Backup)

Firebase infrastructure handles optional Pro backups, including authentication, Cloud Firestore encryption, and Storage for uploaded images. Google operates as the service provider under data processing agreements.

🔒 Data Security

Cloud backups remain encrypted and authentication-tied. The app recommends keeping devices updated and employing appropriate security protections.

👶 Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

✏️ Changes to This Policy

Updates will be posted with notification via the "Effective Date" indicator.

🔗 Third-Party Services & Links

While Piñata does not collect or share your personal data with third parties, the app includes convenience links to Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and other Amazon domains via the Amazon Associates affiliate program.

When you click these links:

  • You are redirected to Amazon's website outside of our app
  • Amazon may collect information about your clicks and purchases according to their privacy policy
  • We do not have access to your Amazon browsing or purchase history
  • We only receive aggregated commission information from Amazon if you make a purchase
